Cookie Policy

What gets stored in your browser when you visit theopenboxm.com, what it is for, and how to turn it off.

A cookie is a very small file a website stores in your browser in order to remember something. This page explains which ones theopenboxm.com uses, what each is for, and how to turn them off.

The ones the site needs to work

Without these the site breaks, so they cannot be switched off here:

  • WordPress session and security: they keep the site administrator signed in and protect the forms against forged submissions.
  • Comments: if you comment on the blog, WordPress can remember your name and email so you do not have to type them again.
  • SiteGround caching: helps pages load quickly.

Measurement

Google Analytics. Tells us how many people visit the site, where they come from, and which pages they read. It does not tell us who you are — the data is aggregated. We use it to know which content is worth writing and which is not.

Advertising

Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram). Lets us measure whether our ads bring real visits, and show ads to people who already visited the site. This is the only category that tracks across sites.

Beyond visits, we measure two specific actions: when someone messages us on WhatsApp or calls the phone number, and when someone confirms a consultation from a campaign page. In that last case we send Meta the name, email and phone number in encrypted form, and part of that send comes from our server rather than your browser. We explain it in detail, and how to avoid it, in our privacy policy.

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, these cookies are not loaded on your visit. You don’t need to do anything else.

Third-party services that may set cookies

  • Google Calendar and Google Meet, when you book or join a call.
  • Gravatar, which shows profile pictures on comments.

These services are governed by their own cookie policies.

How to turn them off

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings. Look for your browser’s privacy section:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies.
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.

If you block all cookies the site still displays, but some things stop working the way they should.

For advertising specifically, you can also adjust which ads you see from your Google and Facebook account settings, without touching the browser.

Changes to this policy

If we add or remove a tool, we update this page and the date shown above.
